yeah, we're gonna get ****ed over for this

"Discrimination is horrible. It’s hurtful … It has no place in civilized society, and that’s precisely why we’re moving this bill," Macheers said. "There have been times throughout history where people have been persecuted for their religious beliefs because they were unpopular. This bill provides a shield of protection for that."
Thats...amazing, there's just so much wrong with it. He wants agents of the state to discriminate at will based on their religion, I assume this wont apply only to gay couples. Maybe we'll see a Baptist vs Quaker "civil" war. Then he equates the discriminators with the persecuted and blames the victims. I imagine the Kansas state supreme court will knock this down if the Feds dont beat them to it. If the state says its actors can enforce their religion on constituents they've established religion in violation of the 1st Amendment (and 14th).

While government agencies would still be mandated to render services to Kansans, individual clerks would be empowered to refuse assistance to individuals that violated their religious beliefs on marriage.
Only marriage? Why cant state employees discriminate against people for violating other religious beliefs? If a person dont care about marriage but is a vegan or some religion that dis-allows certain foods, aren't they being persecuted if they cant deny service to infidels?

The unpopular bill has overwhelming support

I can see the argument for allowing private businesses to refuse service but this seems to be going too far in allowing the state to do so.

Well, your country is still young, so maybe in 3-400 years your language may mature
With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

The Danish language has between 40,000-150,000 words. English has over a million. Nobody gives a **** about your pig latin.

Yeah, counting all the obsolete words in the Oxford dictionary looks good instead of a count of active words.
Another thing is that I'm pretty sure that there are more english common words that has danish as origin than there are vice versa

The idea of allowing public servants to deny service to gay couples is repulsive, and would end up with some absolute horror stories. What exactly happens if every staff member in a branch of public service decided they don't want to render help to a gay couple?
Ahh, but forcing states to pay for gay marriage is not. This is akin to Dred Scott, and requiring states to permit slavery, everywhere in the United States.

That's exactly what the federal government is doing. Good on Kansas for showing that states rights aren't entirely dead.

Do you put thought into the things you believe? I mean, do you look at what is, for the most part, objective notions of right and wrong and then purposely choose the "wrong"?
So you think it's right to force a Christian baker to provide a cake for a gay marriage? Last I checked, this was a free country, sava.

Are we talking modern English here? Then yeah. If we're talking Old English, then I'd suspect Danish has more loanwords with Old English than Old Norse provides to modern English.

Read up on the story. The federal government is requiring all federal institutions wherever they are located to provide benefits for gay people. Even if state law in Kansas explicitly forbids the use of taxpayer dollars to do so. Kansas is shutting that scam down, right here.
